Along the journey, visitors discover six legendary stories including Merlin at Dinas Emrys and the battle of the red and white dragons, The Battle of Camlan and the voyage to Avalon and the lost land of Cantre’r Gwaelod.

An exciting multi-media experience brings stories to life through narration, tableaux, and dramatic light and sound effects, helping to develop oracy skills. Perfect for exploring myths, legends, and traditional tales, the stories of King Arthur are drawn from original Welsh sources including the Mabinogion and the Tales of Taliesin. The Labyrinth provides an environment which helps develop a learner’s understanding of the cultural identity unique to Wales. Geography
The unique setting provides a fieldwork opportunity to investigate the causes and consequences of an environmental change. The vast caverns of King Arthur’s Labyrinth are the surviving workings of the Braich Goch Slate Mine which operated between 1836 and 1970. The Labyrinth also provides a working example to help learners understand and recognise physical and human processes. A further visit, Corris Mine Explorers, allows school groups (minimum age 8) to discover different levels of the old Braich Goch slate mine.
History
The stories of King Arthur’s Labyrinth are set in the turbulent years between the late 5th and early 6th centuries, when the Romans were departing and Saxon armies invaded Britain. Legend tells of Arthur and his warriors standing against these forces to restore peace. These tales are brought to life with dramatic scenes, light, and sound, creating an engaging and memorable learning experience.

Welsh: The underground show offers an exciting multi-media experience that develops oracy skills through narration, tableaux, and dramatic lighting and sound. The stories draw on traditional Welsh legends from original sources such as the Mabinogion and the Tales of Taliesin, helping learners explore the rich cultural identity of Wales.
